The patient master record and associated episodic records of service provision are held centrally on MPS which is accessed using Mericles Events Manager client tool. The server accommodates data for use in automatic document production and can also support many operational reporting requirements such as activity analyses or formal clinical audits. A tiered approach to record keeping addresses the problems of capturing well structured information in a busy healthcare environment. There are 3 main elements to this: a standardised events / encounters record holding summarised information about all events in a consistent format. Regardless of event type, a single data entry is normally all that is required by the user. Mericle will automatically file an entry in the patient events index, make data available for document support, and update any activity analyses which apply. |

Document automation and semi-automation is achieved by integrating information from the events server with an online document template library to produce accurate and standardised draft copies. System users then carry out final editing and approval only. The security requirements applying to the workstation users privileges are applied at all stages of the document cycle including composition, printing, review and committal. This is the point at which a document is frozen, held on the document archive server and no further editing allowed. Document origination and printing is fully supported by Mericles workflow tool which facilitates batch handling of documents by type, consultant, transmission channel department or any combination of these. |
